font size

Ethiopia and Djibouti on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would enable them to enhance their existing ties.

In a press release available to international media here, Ethiopia's Foreign Ministry said the MoU signed between Ethiopia and Djibouti would enable them jointly to work on port utilization, investment, trade and economy, as well as other infrastructure development endeavors.

The two countries also signed a protocol accord on culture, sport, tourism and information, said the press release.

The MoU and the protocol agreement were signed following the 9th Ethio-Djibouti joint ministerial meeting in Djibouti, it said.

Ethiopian Foreign Minister Seyoum Mesfin and his Djiboutian counterpart Mohammed Ali Yousuf attended the joint commission meeting.

The two parties passed various decisions based on a report presented by the joint experts' committee, it added.

The joint experts' committee meeting, held prior to the ministerial meeting, had deliberated on political, social, defense and security, trade and economy, port utilization, investment and infrastructure development issues, the press release said.

Accordingly, consensus has been reached on various issues and discussions have been held on ways of further enhancing execution of the existing agreements.
