font size

Lien Chan, honorary chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) party, said that both China's mainland and Taiwan are facing "rare opportunities" in 100 years.

Lien hailed the "economic miracles" achieved by the mainland and Taiwan Sunday, on the occasion when Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, and other CPC officials met with Lien and other participants from Taiwan who attended the Cross-Strait Economic and Trade Forum.

Lien urged Chinese compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait to use their wisdom, abilities and opportunities to reach the goal of common prosperity and win-win outcome.

He pointed out that over the past year, cross-strait exchanges in cultural, educational and social fields have been "unprecedented."
