The Chinese mainland is creating a miracle with a growth rate of about 10 percent for 27 years, said Chinese Kuomintang (KMT) Honorary Chairman Lien Chan, on Sunday.

Lien, who leads a delegation from Taiwan to attend a two-day economic and trade forum across the Taiwan Straits, said the delegation comes to discuss on how to further promote the economic and trade cooperation across the Straits for mutual benefits and common prosperity in a peaceful environment.

"Peace and prosperity live together, for if there is no peace, there will be no prosperity, and only peace creates opportunities for us to pursue prosperity," Lien said at a meeting with Hu Jintao, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

This is the second meeting between Hu and Lien since last April, when Lien, then KMT chairman made an "ice-breaking journey" to the mainland for better relations across the Taiwan Straits.
