Senior CPC official meets European Parliament guests

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, met Tuesday with a delegation from the Group of United Left in the European Parliament.

The delegation was headed by Francis Wurtz, chairman of the group.

The two sides praised the relations between China and the European nations. Wang thanked the Group for its understanding and support to China.

He said bilateral party relationship is an important component of China-Europe relations, adding the CPC attaches great importance to the cooperation and exchanges with all groups in the European Parliament.

Wang expressed his welcome to various groups in the European Parliament to pay visits to China, exchange views on major issues of common concern and enhance mutual understanding to promote the healthy development of China-Europe relations.

Wurtz said Europe highly values the relations with China and the Group hopes to strengthen exchanges with the CPC to deepen China-Europe relations.

The delegation visited China at the invitation of the CPC. Besides Beijing, the delegation members will also visit southwest China's Chongqing Municipality and China's economic hub Shanghai.
