A Malaysian company has signed an agreement with South Korean companies to produce a new kind of film speaker, a company source said here on Wednesday.
Malaysia's Optimum Quality Resources Sdn Bhd (OQR) has been given the exclusive rights by South Korean companies concerned to produce the film speaker, which is as thin as paper and can "talk", OQR Managing Director Ahmad Kamal Bahrin said.
OQR will invest 40 million ringgit (10.8 million U.S. dollars) to set up a joint venture with South Korean companies, which is expected to be fully operational by November this year.
The film speaker, made of plasma technology, is a special modified film and can produce sound through the vibration of the film, Ahmad Kamal said.
Ahmad Kamal told local reporters that the joint venture would appoint distributors in other countries throughout the world to distribute the product.
