A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday spoke highly of relations between China and the European Union (EU), saying they enjoy "broad prospects" for further ties.
China and the EU are two important powers at the present international stage, and it is the right choice of both sides to forge the China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership, said Wang Gang, an alternate member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee.
"The two sides enjoy broad prospects for the development of bilateral relations," Wang said at a meeting with a political party delegation from the European Parliament, headed by Francis Wurtz, president of the Confederal Group of the European United Left and Nordic Green Left (GUE/NGL Group).
Noting the GUE/NGL Group is an important political party of the European Parliament, Wang said the CPC always attaches great importance to the friendly ties with the GUE/NGL Group, and has been pushing forward such ties.
"It is our hope to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the GUE/NGL Group, and exchange views on important issues of common concern so as to promote the party-to-party relations, as well as relations between parliaments of China and the EU and the overall China-EU relations," Wang said.
