The sales volume of Volkswagen China, together with Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen have registered a sharp increase of 40 percent in the first quarter this year.

Totaling 164,339 if imported cars are included, the sales were generated by 145,328 vehicles under Volkswagen brands including Skoda and 19,011 vehicles with Audi brands, up 32.38 percent and 130.52 percent year-on-year respectively.

Dr. Win-ried Vahland, CEO of Volkswagen China pointed out that the implementation of the company's Olympic programme regrouping of Volkswagen China's business and introducing more models contributed to the excellent market performance. Volkswagen China hopes it could maintain such robust business performance in the next months and fulfill the goals set for this year so as to surpass its achievements in 2005.
