Cloned dog celebrates first birthday
The world's first and only cloned dog celebrated its first birthday at Seoul National University on April 24, enjoying birthday cake. The team led by Korea scientist Hwang Woo-suk unveiled the dog named Snuppy on August 3, 2005 at Seoul and claimed it the world's first cloned dog. Snuppy was an actual one, confirmed by Nature, English scientific magazine on March 9,2006.

Black memory Chernobyl disaster
The Chernobyl nuclear disaster on April 26, 1986 happened in the territory of former Soviet Union was the most severe nuclear accident so far worldwide. The leakage of some 8-ton of radioactive substances due to human error and technical failure has left more than 60,000 sq. km of land in its surrounding areas contaminated and some 3.2 million people suffering from nuclear radiation.

The Internet video grab shows that Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the most notorious and shadowy figure associated with terrorist organisation Al Qaeda speaks to his insurgents on April 25. Explosions rock Egyptian touristic resort of Dahab
A resident runs past a shop destroyed by explosion near the place where one of the three explosions took place in the touristic resort of Dahab in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, April 25, 2006. Two of the explosions were confirmed to be suicide attack, according to Egyptian security official. The explosions killed at least 30 and wounded more than 100.

China's Chery automobile assembled in Russia
The first Chinese Chery automobile assembled by Avtotor of Russia is unveiled in Kaliningrad, Russia, April 24, 2006. Locally-assembled Chery automobiles will come into the Russian market soon. The fittings and technology were provided by Chinese automobile manufacturer Chery and the assembly work was accomplished by Avtotor under the instruction of Chinese technicians. At present, Avtotor-Chery automobile assembly line has a capacity of finishing working on 2,000 vehicles per month, with a goal of assembling 15,000 cars in 2006.

Excavation of an ancient tomb under way
Archeologists and workers excavate a tomb at Yinwan Village in Donghai County, east China's Jiangsu Province, April 24, 2006. Cultural relics like copper mirrors, jade articles and coins were unearthed from the tomb dating back to ancient China's Western Han Dynasty (206 BC-24 AD).
