About one hundred local residents on Tuesday staged a small-scale demonstration in the Egyptian Sinai resort town of Dahab, one day after three explosions killed at least 23 people and injured scores of others.

Local shopkeepers, coffee shop employees and others held placards which read "No terrorism" and "Dahab children say no to more blood", calling for an end to terrorist attacks in Egypt.

In an apparent effort to assure foreign tourists in the small town, some of the protestors chanted slogans such as "We love tourists."

Earlier in the day, Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazef visited the area where the triple bombings took place.

Nazef promised that the authorities would step up protection of tourists in the country, vowing to catch those behind Monday's bombings.

On Tuesday afternoon, much of the area hit by the explosions has come back to normal, with bazaars reopening to visitors and foreign tourists wandering along the beach.
