A reception was held in Beijing Tuesday to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cape Verde.

Addressing the reception jointly hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC), the China-Africa Friendship Association and the Cape Verde Embassy to China, Chen Haosu, president of the CPAFFC, spoke highly of Cape Verde's friendly policy toward China.

Chen said the government of Cape Verde is engaged in friendly cooperation with China in various fields, adheres to the one-China policy, and supports China in human rights issue. These acts were highly appreciated by China, Chen noted.

Chen said the CPAFFC, as a non-governmental friendship association, values friendship with people from Cape Verde, and hopes to carry out more friendly exchanges between the two peoples, so as to further promote the bilateral friendship.

Ambassador of Cape Verde to China Julio Cesar Freire de Morais said Cape Verde and China have enjoyed profound friendship since forging diplomatic ties 30 years ago, with fruitful cooperation in politics, economy and culture.

The ambassador expressed his hope that the bilateral relations between Cape Verde and China would achieve further progress.

Vice-Chairman of China's National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Xu Jialu, and visiting vice-chairman of Cape Verde National Assembly Mario Matos were present on the occasion.

Xu met with Matos, who paid the visit to China at the invitation of the CPAFFC, before the reception.
