font size

Russia will begin to deliver MiG-29 SMT jet fighters to Algeria this year, the MiG company said on Wednesday.

"First aircraft will be delivered to Algeria as early as this year," Sergei Tsivilev, the first deputy director general of the company, said in an interview published in the Voenno-Promyshlenny Kuryer weekly.

Tsivilev confirmed reports that the MiG company is holding talks with Egypt on delivery of MiG-29 SE jets.

"Such talks are carried out. The proposal on the basic variant of MiG 29 SE has been elaborated seriously enough. In case of a positive outcome of the talks, this can be a good contract," Tsivilev said.

Tsivilev also said "Serious work is going on to discuss a contract for the modernization of MiG-29 arming the Indian Air Force."
