    Great Wall of China gets measured

    Zhang Pengming, head of the Great Wall scientific research team of Hebei province measures the width of a stone block with a laser rangefinder at Great Wall's Shanhaiguan Pass section on April 24. A pilot survey and measuring mission for the Great Wall was kicked off in north China's Hebei province recently, which will get a thorough situation of Great Wall resources within a couple of years. It is the first time that China uses survey and mapping techniques to measure the Great Wall precisely. The pilot project is carried out currently in Hebei and Gansu province.
