Macao sees stable jobless rate in Q1

Macao saw a 3.9-percent unemployment rate in the first quarter of this year, almost flat over the period from December to February and over the same quarter of 2005, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.

The figures from the Statistics and Census Service showed that the number of jobless residents seeking their first job was around 700, accounting for 7.1 percent of the unemployed population in the quarter.

Macao's total labor force was estimated at 265,800 in the first quarter, the figures showed.

The special administrative region has a population of above 480, 000.
