Macao sees 8 percent rise of vehicles in Q1

The number of licensed vehicles in Macao reached 155,587 in the first quarter, a year-on-year rise of 8 percent, according to official statistics issued Tuesday.

The statistics released by the Statistics and Census Service ( SCS) indicated that motorcycles account for 51 percent of the registered vehicles and 42 percent of light private vehicles.

The region logged 3,092 cases of traffic accidents in the first quarter, a slight year-on-year increase of 1 percent, resulting in 1,003 casualties including four fatalities.

Macao has a population of over 480,000.
