font size

Thousands of Hong Kong young people Sunday pushed the celebration of the Youth Day, which fell on May 4, to its climax with a splendid parade and a formal ceremony.

Organized by around 80 societies, thousands of young people started the parade from Wanchai, through Causeway Bay, the famous downtown shopping center, to Victoria park, while performing patriotic music, Kungfu and dragon dance.

Wang Yanlung, Secretary for Justice of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, gave a speech at the ceremony holding at the Victoria park. He hoped the young people in Hong Kong to carry on the patriotic spirit of "May 4 Movement" and try to understand the society and make their contributions to the development of the nation.

The military band of People's Liberation Army performed the national anthem while the people attending the ceremony watching the national flag hoisting. Olympic golden medal winners, artists from the army and Hong Kong stars gave their performances after the ceremony.
