British Parliamentary Committee visits China

The Foreign Affairs Committee of the British Parliament delegation will meet Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) officials late Tuesday, members of the delegation said.

During a press conference held Tuesday, Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Mike Gapes said that he will discuss various aspects with HKSAR officials. The delegation will fly to Beijing on Wednesday.

According to a communique from the British Consulate-General in Hong Kong, nine members of the British Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee will visit Hong Kong on May 8-10 as part of a wider visit to the region. They will meet Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang and other officials.

In November 2005 the Foreign Affairs Committee announced the launch of an inquiry entitled "East Asia".
