A U.S. soldier was killed when a U. S. army convoy hit a roadside bomb southwest of Baghdad on Thursday, the U.S. military said.
The soldier, assigned to the Multinational Division-Baghdad, was killed at about 6:30 a.m. (0230 GMT), the military said in a brief statement.
The name of the soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.
The latest death brought to over 2,410 the number of U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003.
