font size

A bus plunged into a river in Egypt's Mediterranean port of Damietta on Thursday, leaving 21 passengers drowned to death and 22 others wounded, police said.

Earlier in the day, a truck carrying Egyptian policemen fell off from a viaduct in Cairo, killing about seven policemen and injuring 27 others, the official MENA news agency reported.

Road accidents are common in Egypt due to overspeed and violation of traffic rules.
