Thailand's exports grew more than 18 percent in March despite the appreciation of its currency, according to the latest report of the Bank of Thailand (BOT).

The country's total exports in March reached 434.55 billion baht (11.42 billion U.S. dollars), up 18.4 percent from the same period last year, although the Thai baht had appreciated by 8 percent from late last year till the end of the first quarter this year, said the central bank's report.

The kingdom's total exports in March, in terms of US dollar, surged 16.2 percent on the year-on-year basis.

The figures showed that the country's exports were not affected by the stronger baht, it said.

Thailand's exports of manufactured goods in March accounted for 377.77 billion baht (9.95 billion dollars), up 16.28 percent over the same period of last year, and those of farm and fishery products totaled 32.28 billion baht (849 million dollars) and 7.18 billion baht (188.94 million dollars) respectively, up 28.29 percent and 28 percent, said the BOT's report.
