Hungarian airline listed as most punctual in Europe

Malev, the national carrier of Hungary, was listed as the most punctual among 25 European airlines in the first quarter of 2006, the company quoted the Association of European Airlines as saying on Friday.

According to the association, 88.9 percent of Malev flights departed, and 89.6 percent landed, on time, as against the European averages of 76.9 and 79.3 percent respectively.

The Hungarian company also got high marks for luggage handling. While some European airlines "lost" 15.2 out of 1,000 pieces of luggage, Malev's figure was merely 8.2.
