China reports trade surplus of 10.46 billion U.S. dollars in April

China's trade surplus in April stood at 10.46 billion U.S. dollars, said sources with the General Administration of Customs (GAC).

A report from the Customs office said China's exports grew by 25.8 percent year on year to 274.2 billion U.S. dollars in the first four months, while imports were worth 240.5 billion U.S. dollars, up 22.1 percent from a year ago.

The recorded trade volume in April was 143.4 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 19.8 percent.

Exports in April reached 76.95 billion U.S. dollars, growing by 23.9 percent, while imports reached 66.49 billion U.S. dollars, up 15.3 percent.

The European Union remains China's top trading partner with bilateral trade growing by 20.5 percent year on year to 78.62 billion U.S. dollars.

The United States is China's second largest trading partner and Japan, the third, with the trade volume reaching 77.29 billion U.S. dollars and 64.12 billion dollars respectively.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) remains China's fourth largest trading partner with bilateral trade growing by 22 percent year on year to 47.06 billion U.S. dollars.
