Pakistani oil minister has said the Petroleum Policy 2006 of Pakistan would attract huge investment in the onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration in the country, state-run news agency reported on Saturday.
Pakistani Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Amanullah Khan Jadoon underscored the need to mobilize all means for enhancing the oil and gas production to cater for the energy requirements of the country when addressing a high level meeting, according to APP news agency.
APP did not give the date of the meeting in the report.
The minister directed to expedite the basin study to attract investors with a view to find out the prospects of oil and gas in the country and said that dissemination of basin study and geological data information would attract foreign and domestic investment in exploration and production sector.
Pakistan had started work on basin study in last July and it would be completed in 28 months, the APP report said.
The daily indigenous production of 4 billion cubic feet of gas and 68,500 barrels of oil would be increased in the days ahead as a result of aggressive oil and exploration and production activities, said Director General of Petroleum Concessions Naeem Malik at the meeting.
