Nepali businesses hope for durable peace for economic development

Nepal Chamber of Commerce stated that hope for durable peace has been raised on all sides in the country following the declaration of a cease-fire by both the government and the anti-government guerrilla, Radio Nepal reported on Monday.

According to the radio, the chamber, one of the major non- governmental organizations in the country, also expressed the confidence that peace will lead to an environment wherein the business and industry sector operating smoothly.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the chamber stressed that in the present situation, the industry and business sector should take initiation on an immediate basis for rapid economic development.

The chamber emphasized that the government should also take special initiatives for the development of the import, export and tourism sectors of the country.

Stating that recently some positive indications have been seen in the country with the gradual increase in the foreign assistance and issuance of new travel advisories by the foreign countries, the chamber stated that it was always ready to provide necessary suggestions to the government regarding the development of the industry and trade.
