The Islamic Jihad (Holy War) claimed on Tuesday responsibility for firing Russian-made Katyusha rocket into the southern Israeli coastal city of Ashkelon, its military wing said in a statement.
It was the second such attack by Islamic Jihad militants.
"Tuesday predawn, a group of al-Quds Brigades fighters launched a Katyusha rocket into occupied al-Majdal (Ashkelon) city," the statement said.
The Islamic Jihad, which did not run in the January parliamentary elections, vowed to continue resistance, the statement said.
An Israeli army spokesman confirmed the attack, saying that no one was injured in the attack.
He said that the rocket landed on a poultry farm, causing the death of a big number of chickens.
On April 30, the Israeli army said that Palestinians have smuggled a number of Katyusha rockets into the Gaza Strip, accusing Iran of sending the rockets.
