Gabon, China willing to promote cooperation in various fields

Gabon's Prime Minister Jean Eyeghe Ndong and a senior Chinese lawmaker on Monday hailed their countries' ties and expressed the willingness to deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in various fields.

Ndong said that Gabonese-Chinese cooperative relations had developed steadily in the past three decades. He cited the bilateral trade cooperation as an example of south-south cooperation.

Gabon was ready to further promote cooperation with China in various fields in order to bring more benefits to the two peoples, Ndong said.

Cheng Siwei, the vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) of China, said Sino-Gabonese ties had developed smoothly since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1974. The legislatures of the two nations had also maintained close contacts.

China was willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Gabon and work together to promote the sustained and healthy development of bilateral ties, Cheng said.

The NPC delegation headed by Cheng arrived in Librevilie on Saturday for a friendly visit.
