Indonesia's motorcycle sales plunge in AprilIndonesia's motorcycle market remained sluggish in April, with sales plunging 33.5 percent to 271,092 units against 407,744 units in the same month last year, the industry association said Wednesday. Honda motorcycle continued to be the market leader, grabbing about 52 percent of the market share last month, according to the data released by the Indonesian Motorcycle Producers Association ( AISI). However, Honda sales dropped to 140,214 units in April against 145,031 units in the preceding month. Yamaha retained the second place by selling 93,272 units, trailed by Suzuki with 33,571 units and Kawasaki with a mere 2,602 units. Motorcycle sales peaked at 330,767 units in February, but it remained lower than last year's average monthly sales. Hiking bank interest and inflation rate triggered by fuel price rises last October have been widely blamed for the sluggish market. Source: Xinhua |
