Danish Defense Minister Soeren Gade on Wednesday met with visiting Chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Liang Guanglie in the Danish capital city of Copenhagen.
Liang, a member of the Central Military Commission, China's top military authority, is the first chief of the general staff of the Chinese armed forces to visit Denmark since the two countries established diplomatic relations 56 years ago, Gade noted.
He added that Liang's visit, which showed that relations between the two countries' military have entered an important stage of development, infused new vitality into bilateral ties.
Denmark is willing to boost the exchanges and cooperation between the armies of the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and trust, Gade added.
During their meeting, Liang said Sino-Danish relations have been strengthened in recent years, and that the two countries expanded their exchanges and cooperation in many fields including politics, economy, science and technology, as well as culture.
The armies of the two countries have also enjoyed a momentum of steady development, Liang said, adding that they should continue to make efforts to widen mutual understanding and promote their relations.
Carsten Staur, state secretary of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, also met Liang on Wednesday, and reiterated Denmark's adherence to the one-China policy.
Liang arrived in Copenhagen on Tuesday on a two-day visit to Denmark.
