Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan urged the world aluminium enterprises which make investment in China to pay attention to saving resources and protecting environment in aluminium processing and production.
Zeng made the remarks while meeting with Richard Evans, chairman of the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) in Beijing on Thursday.
Zeng hoped the IAI will bridge the exchanges between Chinese and foreign aluminium industries so as to jointly make contribution to global sustainable development.
China will encourage the development of aluminium downstream processing and new aluminium alloy in the next five years to improve utilization of the industrial material, said Zeng.
"The Chinese government gives priority to the sustainable development and climate change, and insists on developing a resource-saving, recycling and environment-friendly economy," Zeng added.
