font size

Romania and China on Friday agreed to carry out cooperation in large-scale projects in order to further enhance economic and trade relations between the two countries.

The consensus was reached during a meeting between Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu and visiting Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo.

Tariceanu said Romania, after joining in the European Union (EU), will be an important cooperation partner of China in the EU and will work together with the Chinese side to push forward cooperation in large-scale projects.

The prime minister expressed his satisfaction over the full-fledged development of political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries in recent years.

He also reiterated that the Romanian government will persistently adhere to the one-China policy.

Wu, chairman of China's National People's Congress, expressed his desire that the two sides should continue to encourage enterprise and large-scale project cooperation between the two countries in order to promote the bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.

The Sino-Romanian relations based on traditional friendship have made great achievements in recent years with political trust enhanced and economic and trade cooperation expanded, he added.

Wu arrived here Wednesday for a three-day official good-well visit to Romania, the first leg of his four-nation tour, which will also take him to Moldova, Greece and Russia.
