font size

China and the Bahamas have vowed to promote the development of bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation in all fields, according to reports from Nassau, capital of the Bahamas.

Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing on Saturday held talks with the Bahamas' Governor-General Arthur D. Hanna and Prime Minister Perry Christie respectively in Nassau.

Li said China-Bahamas relations keep a good momentum of development, and mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade has gained active achievements.

The Bahamas is a reliable partner, and China is willing to join hands with the Bahamas to further promote the development of bilateral relations, he added.

The Bahamas' leaders said the people of the two nations have become sincere friends since the Bahamas and China established diplomatic relations. China is developing rapidly and has played an active role in maintaining world peace. The Bahamas hoped to strengthen cooperation in various fields with China.

The Bahamas will continue to stick to the one-China policy, which is a common understanding for the Bahamas' government and all circles of society.

Li kicked off an official visit to six Latin American and Middle East nations on Wednesday, which includes Mexico, the Bahamas, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain.
