Smuggler with 2.3 kg of heroin arrested in Taiwan
font size

A Malaysian man carrying 2.3 kilograms of heroin was arrested Saturday by aviation police at Taiwan's Taoyung International Airport as he was trying to pass through customs, according to a report reaching Hong Kong on Sunday.

A spokesman for the local aviation police office said the heroin was found by the customs officers in two bottles of talcum powder carried by the 20 year-old Malaysian in his luggage.

The spokesman said it is rare for talcum powder bottles to be used to smuggle drugs. The smuggler said someone was supposed to have met him once he arrived in Taiwan, but claimed he did not know who planned the operation.
