Senior Chinese military official backs Hu Jintao's remarks on defense

Guo Boxiong, a senior military official, shows his all-out support to Hu Jintao, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), regarding the latter's call for making the Scientific Concept of Development the guiding principle for the development of defense and military sector.

Guo, a vice-chairman of the CMC Central Committee, pledged to firmly implement the important instructions of Hu, who is also Chinese president and general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, while meeting with a group of Army generals attending a training course on the study and implementation of the Scientific Concept of Development.

CMC Vice Chairmen Cao Gangchuan and Xu Caihou, and CMC Members Li Jinai, Liao Xilong, Chen Bingde, Qiao Qingchen, and Jing Zhiyuan were among those present.

To conscientiously study and implement the Scientific Concept of Development must be made a priority political task and a long-term strategic task for the whole Army, Guo said.
