Eight killed in bomb explosion in Baghdad restaurant

A bomb exploded in a restaurant usually frequented by policemen in the capital on Sunday, killing eight people and wounding 17 others, an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

"A bomb went off in Saffar Restaurant in the Karada district, where policemen are used to having their lunch," the source said on condition of anonymity.

"According to initial investigations, eight people were killed and at least 17 others wounded, most of them policemen," the source said.

Insurgents have frequently attack U.S. troops and Iraq's fledgling security forces, accusing them of collaborating with U.S. occupation forces.
