HK to hold seminars, roadshows to promote cooperation with neighboring Guangdong

Hong Kong will hold a seminar and roadshow series in neighboring Guangdong Province to help make match between the province's industry manufacturers and Hong Kong's Research and Development Centers, a government spokesman said in Hong Kong Monday.

The seminar and roadshow series, to be held in Guangzhou, Foshan, Shenzhen and Dongguan on June 9, are organized by the Innovation and Technology Commission of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government and the Department of Science and Technology of Guangdong Province.

A spokesman for the Innovation and Technology Commission said organizers expect manufacturers, technology companies, research institutes and university representatives will flock to the event.

The Research and Development Center Program is a major initiative of the HKSAR government aiming to leverage on Hong Kong 's advantages and provide a one-stop service platform for technology transfer and commercialization to increase the productivity and competitiveness of enterprises in Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta Region.

Major research focus areas of the Research and Development Centers include industries like automotive, information and communications, logistics, nanotechnology, textiles and Chinese medicine.
