Chinese auditors transferred 80 cases involved in economic crimes to police last year, up 63 percent from 49 ones in 2003, the Ministry of Public Security and National Audit Office said at Tuesday's press conference in Beijing.

According to the two ministries, Chinese audit offices nationwide transferred 2,033 cases involving 3,150 suspects to judicial organs from 2003 to 2005, including 212 cases to police that involved over 5.8 billion U.S. dollars and 502 suspects.

Most of the cases are related to finance and trade, accounting for over 86 percent of cases cracked by auditors.
