An intense earthquake measuring 6. 1 degrees on the Richter Scale hit Indonesia Tuesday morning, according to the Hong Kong Observatory.
The epicenter was initially determined to be over the Banda Sea, some 200 kilometers southwest of Ambon, Indonesia, the Observatory said.
The quake was recorded in Hong Kong at 5:00 a.m. (2100 GMT Monday).
There was no immediate report about casualties or damage.
