Financial Secretary of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Henry Tang had a meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark here Tuesday afternoon.
The two sides exchanged views on mutual finance and trade relations.
Tang also talked in Wellington, capital of New Zealand, with other ministers responsible for trade, economic development and finance.
Tang arrived at Auckland Monday for his first official visit to New Zealand as HKSAR Financial Secretary.
After New Zealand, Tang will have a 10-day visit to Australia which will include Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney.
Tang said Hong Kong has a history of excellent relations with New Zealand and Australia, and "I hope that my visit can reinforce and strengthen our ties."
During his visit Tang will update government leaders, business communities, think-tanks and the local media on Hong Kong's latest economic developments.
Tang will also stress Hong Kong's unique advantages as the best two-way platform for doing business with enterprises in Chinese Mainland.
He will encourage more New Zealand and Australian companies to make use of Hong Kong's strengths as Asia's business and financial services hub.
Tang leaves for Australia on Wednesday.
