China glad to see new Iraqi government, says FM spokesman

The Chinese government is glad to see the inauguration of the new Iraqi government, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on Tuesday.

Liu was asked to comment on the formation of the new Iraqi government, which was inaugurated on May 20.

Liu said China hoped the Iraqi reconstruction process would make greater progress under the leadership of the new Iraqi government.

He said China hopes Iraq will realize stability and development as soon as possible, and China is ready to work together with the new Iraqi government to advance bilateral ties of friendship and cooperation.
