UAE insists on one-China policy

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) vowed on Wednesday to adhere to the one-China policy.

Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that there is only one China in the world, adding that UAE will continue to adhere to the one-China policy.

UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Nahyan reiterated that the UAE government's insistence on one-China principle will not totter.

They affirmed the UAE's position on Taiwan issue in separate meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, who appreciated UAE's stance.

Li attributed the achievement of cooperation in various fields to mutual respect and support and preservation of political foundation of bilateral relations.

He said that China and UAE are complementary in economic development and promoting friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries accords with interest of two countries.

He added that China will work along with UAE to intensify the cooperation in trade and investment for mutual benefit, and increase cultural and educational exchange.

For his part, the crown prince said that UAE attaches importance to the important role China is playing in international affairs and cherishes the friendly relation with China.

He added that UAE hopes to strengthen political consultation, expand economic and trade cooperation with China.

UAE is the third leg of Li's four-nation Gulf tour, which has taken him to Kuwait and Qatar and will also take him to Bahrain.
