Ericsson launches first center for sourcing, site materials in ChinaThe world's leading mobile communication network supplier Ericsson, of Sweden, has announced the establishment of the Ericsson Center for Sourcing and Site Materials in Chongqing, a municipality in southwest China. Company officials said on Wednesday this is the first sourcing and site materials center Ericsson has ever launched on the Chinese mainland. They believe the center will further reinforce China's position as a key hub for Ericsson's global supply. "China is now not only an important market for us, but more importantly, one of Ericsson's global supply hubs and a cornerstone of Ericsson's global R&D activities," Michael Treschow, chairman of the Ericsson Group, said. "China is Ericsson's second biggest GSM (global system for mobile telecommunications) electronic-components supply base," Threschow added. He said, "Ericsson hopes that establishment of the center in Chongqing and construction of the Ericsson Plaza will boost the growth of the Ericsson's services in western China. The company also hopes western China will become Ericsson's global purchase base of 3G mobile communication electronic-components." Ericsson China is one of the three global supply hubs and a major R&D base of Ericsson. It manufactures all Ericsson's telecom equipment and system products on the Chinese mainland. Source: Xinhua |
