The Israeli army will not take immediate ground operation in the Gaza Strip, after Qassam rockets fired from northern Gaza hit the Israeli city of Sderot Wednesday morning, an Israel Defense Force (IDF) spokesman told Xinhua.
Two Qassams landed in Sderot earlier in the day, wounding one and badly damaging a residential building near Defense Minister Amir Peretz's house.
The army responded to the assault with artillery shelling against the area, from where Qassam rockets were launched.
On Tuesday, Peretz said that Israeli troops would continue to carry out operations against Qassam launch cells in the Gaza Strip in order to prevent further rocket attacks against Israel.
Army special units operated deep inside the Gaza Strip late Monday night, killing four Islamic Jihad (Holy War) operatives on their way to an area to fire Qassam rockets at Israeli targets.
