Thailand's Supreme Court judges Wednesday shot down a request of caretaker Senate Speaker Suchon Chaleekrua for them to nominate four candidates to fill two vacant seats of the Election Commission (EC).
Supreme Court Secretary Wirat Chinwinijkul said the 72 of 82 Supreme Court judges voted not to nominate the candidates while four judges voted to make the nomination. Six other judges abstained.
The votes were conducted at a meeting Supreme Courts judges on Wednesday after Suchon asked the court to nominate the judges for two EC positions vacant after one commissioner died and another resigned.
Wirat said he would forward the courts decision to Suchon.
Earlier this month, Thai Constitution Court officially announced the invalidation of the unconstitutional April 2 snap polls after a deliberative verdict on this issue and called for the five-top-member EC to resign. But EC rejected the propose although one of them died and another sent in his papers.
The conflicts among the Supreme Court, the Senate and the EC has made a deadlock to the new round general elections.
