Polish president's top aide resigns amid scandal

Polish President Lech Kaczynski on Friday accepted the resignation of Andrzej Urbanski, head of the Presidential Chancellery, who has been reportedly invloved in a corruption scandal.

According to reports by the Rzeczpospolita newspaper, Urbanski once ran a television production company with a leftist activist who is on trial for taking bribes as regional governor several years ago.

Urbanski was chosen as vice mayor of Warsaw in 2002 and then appointed to head the Presidential Chancellery in 2005.
