Israel Defense Forces (IDF) artillery shelled the northern Gaza Strip Saturday morning after two Qassam rockets launched from the strip landed in the southern Israeli city of Sderot earlier in the morning, Jerusalem Post reported.
One of the rockets fired before dawn hit a car in a parking lot and another landed on a pedestrian walkway. Several vehicles were damaged in the attack but there was no report of injuries.
Recently, Sderot has been a frequent target of rocket attacks launched by militants in Gaza.
On early Wednesday, one of four Qassam rockets fired from the northern Gaza Strip hit and badly damaged a residential building not far away from Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz's house in the city.
Islamic Jihad (holy war) claimed responsibility for the attacks, but IDF officials said that Hamas was behind the rocket attack.
Roughly three weeks ago, a Qassam scored a direct hit on a classroom in a Sderot high school, but nobody was hurt in the incident.
