Euro zone's industrial producer price index up 0.8 percent in April

The industrial producer price index rose by 0.8 percent in April in the euro zone, compared with the previous month, according to figures released on Friday by the EU statistics agency Eurostat data agency.

The highest increase was registered in Greece with a 1.3 percent rise, followed by Germany and Italy, both with 1 percent; while decreases were registered in Britain and Denmark, with 0.6 percent and a 0.3 percent falls respectively.

On a yearly basis, industrial producer prices in April rose by 5.4 percent in the euro zone and by 6.6 percent in the European Union as a whole.

Eurostat figures showed that compared with the previous month, prices in total industry, excluding the energy sector, increased by 0.4 percent in April in the 12-country euro area and the 25-EU nations, while prices in the energy sector rose by 2.1 percent and 0.7 percent respectively.
