China's meat industry is growing steadily, with more investment, larger demand, more sales and higher profits, said Deng Fujiang, deputy chairman of China Meat Association, on Friday.
The country had 2,544 meat processing companies in 2005, with 312 new companies established during the year. Total sales reached 228.97 billion yuan (28 billion US dollars), up 38.22 percent from the previous year.
Deng said the China Meat Association and the World Meat Organization would hold a seminar in Beijing in July to discuss China's meat development strategy and to promote meat industry in China.
More than 500 companies from 30 nations and regions have registered for the seminar.
