Nepali Congress dismisses guerrillas' demand for HoR dissolution
font size

Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Ram Chandra Poudel Saturday termed the guerrillas' demand for the dissolution of the House of Representatives (HoR) as "irrelevant" until and unless another representative body comes in place.

He said the Nepali people cannot be sovereign unless the guerrillas dump their guns.

"Dissolution of the House is irrelevant," Poudel said while urging the guerrillas to speak the "language of responsibility".

He asked the talks teams of both sides to focus on creating a favorable environment for Constituent Assembly elections.

"The next round of talks should be centralized on creating a fearless and conducive environment to assure people that Constituent Assembly polls would be held without any fear and hindrances," Poudel said at a meeting here.

He also asked the guerrillas' leaders to clarify their stance on whether the people can vote without any fear.
