According to the HSK Center of Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), the number of HSK examinees has been steadily increasing for 15 years. By the end of last year, more than 1 million (some minority ethnic group are concluded) foreigners had taken part in the exam and more than 773,000 of them had acquired the certificates.

As the first round of tests of rudiments level of HSK were held in Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, and Dalian at the end of May this year, the HSK has developed four, consisting of the rudiment, the basic, the elementary and intermediate and the advanced.

In order to help the enrollment section of higher-learning and recruiting units to verify HSK certificates, the HSK Center of BLCU has already opened the HSK online enquiry service system.
