People work in the cofferdam, which built for protecting the just-completed Three Gorges Dam and scheduled to be demolished on June 6, on June 5, 2006. The water level here had reached 139.5 meters by 6:00 am Monday. Some 191.3 tons of explosives have been installed to demolish the concrete cofferdam and measures have been taken to keep the main wall of the Three Gorges Dam against the demolition. The demolition set for June 6 will take only about 12 seconds with explosive enough to topple down 400 10-storey buildings, said a senior project designer on Monday.
