Three people were killed and 14 others injured in mortar and roadside bomb attacks in different parts of the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Tuesday, an Interior Ministry source said.
Two civilians were killed and seven injured when three mortar rounds landed near a hospital in Nahdha area in eastern Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
Separately, a woman was killed and two men wounded when a roadside bomb explosion missed a passing U.S. patrol in the Alawi area in central Baghdad, the source said.
Meanwhile, a roadside bomb went off near a police patrol on the Muhammed al-Qassim Highway in eastern Baghdad, wounding four people, he said.
Another makeshift bomb detonated near the al-Mashtal station parking lot, where buses line up to pick up passengers, wounding a civilian and damaging several cars with shrapnel, he added.
Violence have persisted despite the formation of a new unity government in the war-torn country.
Three key security ministerial posts remain vacant more than two weeks after the new Iraqi government was sworn in on May 20.
